Hungary advances to rank 6 on the Henley Passport Index
A Hungarian passport can grant you visa-free access to more than 180 countries around the world. With this, Hungary remains in the top 10 of countries according to the Henley Passport Index, a list updated quarterly by one of the most prestigious investment residency and citizenship providers in the world.

In the latest ranking of Q2 2026 of the Henley Passport Index, Hungary ranks 6th with visa-free access to 184 countries out of the over 200 countries considered. With this, Hungary has been steadily in the Top 10 for the last ten years, and even moved up a place since last year. For comparison, see below the other countries that ranked among the Top 10.

Visa-free travel with the Hungarian Golden Visa
While the Hungarian Golden Visa does not grant you a Hungarian passport, it still allows visa-free access to the Schengen zone, making it a valuable asset to investors who travel a lot. Having a Hungarian residence permit can save you time at European airports and border crossings, making travel more predictable and convenient.
Additionally, Hungary is an excellent location if you want to move to the EU. Its central location allows easy access to every major European capital, while the excellent infrastructure and great public safety make Hungary an attractive destination, whether you are moving alone or with your family.
Golden visa investment in Hungary
The Hungarian Golden Visa Program offers 10+10 years of Hungarian residency to anyone who makes an investment of EUR 250,000 in a government approved real estate investment fund. Residency will be available to both the investor and their closest family members (spouse and underage children).
